- LETTERS, Page 6TRUMP IS THE NAME
-
- More power to Donald Trump (PROFILE, Jan. 16). I love his
- style. He's a man who does his own thinking. I'd like to see
- what he could do with the U.S. presidency. Maybe someone has
- finally come along who can fill this country's needs.

- Carol Barrette Menominee, Mich.
-
- Your report on Trump accomplishes two things: it nourishes
- his insufferable ego and makes everyone else sick.

- Benjamin C. Hammond Exeter, N.H.
-
- I thought your cover story on me was badly written and very
- shallow. A comment in the column "From the Publisher" noted
- that one of the great strengths of the Profile section has been
- to give readers a multidimensional look at people. This profile
- was certainly single dimensional in every respect and failed to
- include many aspects of my career that would have made the
- article a great deal more interesting to readers. While it is
- an honor to be on the cover of TIME, it is not an honor to be
- unfairly described.

- The report on Trump is one of the few stories that give the
- man a fair shake. It was informative and evenhanded without
- being overly kind and polite, yet showed his personal side.

- Dan Brody Idaho Falls
-
- You neglected to mention a very special facet of Trump: his
- humanitarianism. Several months ago, the grandchild of one of
- our teachers had to be flown from the West Coast to New York
- for life-saving medical treatment. One call to Donald Trump's
- office resulted in his arranging for his private jet with three
- nurses to fly the patient round trip at his own expense.

-
- There are other rich people in the U.S., but I can think of
- no one else who elevates conspicuous consumption to the status
- of a public virtue.
